Baby Gaige!

Just wanted to welcome to the world my new nephew Gaige! He was born about 3 months premature, but he's doing very well. I'm so excited to be an auntie and I can't wait to start spoiling the little guy!
Right now these are the only pictures I have. My sister lives in Georgia, so I'm relying on family there to supply me with plenty of pics. From what I understand, the little sunglasses thingy over his eyes is off, so I'm anxiously awaiting some good pictures of the adorable face!

Sun, Sun, Sun Here it comes!

Working on an embroidery that I believe I'll call "Here Comes The Sun". Planning on making a frame out of clay for it. :)

A Generous Gift

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to nab a treasury on my birthday (July 11th) and decided to create one celebrating other 7/11 etsians.

As a result I received one of the lovely items in this treasury as a birthday gift from the talented artist who created it, Genea! Color me giddy, happy and totally surprised!

It actually arrived in the mail about a week ago and I'm finally getting a chance to show it off a bit.

I can't even express how thrilled I am at receiving this! It's so delicate and beautiful! This little lovely will be incorporated into some artwork to go on my wall in my workspace. To remind me of the wonderful generosity that is out there.

I really urge you all to go and check out her shop. She creates some really lovely and colorful lampwork beads and jewelry. I've been eyeing all kinds of lampwork beads but haven't been able to afford one so to finally have one makes me very happy. I've already got my eyes on some other gorgeous pieces in her shop.

I have the utmost respect for anyone that can be that brave to work with fire and hot molten glass like that!

At some point I'm going to be paying it forward. Spread the love!!!

The Etsytwitter Team Goes Green!!!

The Etsy Twitter Team is throwing an eco-party, and everyone is invited!

From July 21st to July 27th, the authority on Twitter for all things handmade will be offering a summer feast of cool eco-friendly tips, suggestions, awesome handcrafted genius and a scavenger hunt with lots of “green” prizes for the winners.

Our team, which uses Twitter to expand its reach to a global audience, thinks that “Going Green” is far more than just a sales pitch. We really want to dispel the myth that items that are “green” have to be expensive or time-consuming to find, and encourage people to think of ways they can conserve the most valuable resource we have, which is the Earth itself. This is one way to really turn people on to the idea of buying responsibly and learning how to find items, which support, rather than harm, our natural resources.

We feel that supporting green initiatives are part of meeting the Etsy Twitter Team's mission to become the authority on Twitter for all things handmade. The handmade lifestyle is an important piece of the eco-puzzle and we want to be sure and share that with the rest of the world, on Twitter and off.

I myself will be taking part in the "Going Green" effort with my upcycled Embroidered Olive Oil Bottle. This is only the first in hopefully a long line of upcycled bottles/jars/containers..etc.

Beginning on Tuesday, July 21st, the Etsytwitter Team blog will have a list of participating shops that feature eco-friendly handmade items and more details about the fun scavenger hunt. See you there!!

Etsytwitter Shop of the Week - LMCreation

Lisa Murdin is the creative genius behind the rainbow array of wristlets, pouches, purses and more at LMCreation. Whether from fabric, vinyl, or occasionally leather, the store's creations add a splash of whimsy and color to anything you wear.

Lisa's aim is to make "the best quality piece that I can in my own style and with fabrics that really appeal to me. I also aim to provide the best customer service that I can, the same kind of service that I would like to receive as a customer." Inspired by the beautiful variety of fabrics available, Lisa, like many textile artists, often feels that the fabric "tells me what to do, so when I see the right fabric I just know that it will make a special bag or wristlet or whatever."

I've actually purchased one of her card holders and blogged about it before. Her card holders are awesome!! They're very stiff which means great protection for your business cards when you put them in your purse. No bending, no scratching. And they different patterns and designs are just gorgeous! You really must check out her shop!

Special Deal Offered : 10% discount offered to Twitter customers until July 12. Use code "EtsyTwitter" in the Message to Seller and 10% of purchase price will be refunded.

Back from Missouri!

I actually got back on the 29th of June. But I'm only just now getting a chance to sit down and post something! Whew! Right after I got back, we went upstate for the 4th of July. So I've just been going and going.
If anyone is interested in seeing them, I've posted pictures from my trip on my Flickr.
I had alot of fun going to flea markets and yard sales. Found quite a few things I can use in future projects.
Our first flea market, we spent almost 3 hours in there! There's just so much to see, that I will never see here in the city!
It was really wonderful to see my family and especially my mom....

She decorates her kitchen in chef stuff so she was very excited to find this at the flea market.

Anyway, right now I just feel like relaxing for a bit. I do need to start buckling down and updating my shop more often so at some point, I'm hoping to come up with some sort of a game plan because what I'm doing right now, is SO not working!
