The Letter D

I started an alphabet treasury series, and only just now realized I should be posting each one. Ah, well...so we missed out on A, B and C. But here's D! I don't know how to do a screen shot where I capture the entire thing, but hopefully this will make you wanna go over and click! :)

Shop of the Week - Renee Suich

The etsytwitter group's current shop of the week is Renee Suich. She makes the most delicious lampwork beads! I've got serious respect for anyone who's brave enough to wield a torch and work with hot glass like that.
I just love the colors and shapes of these beads!

She's also having a special March 23rd - 29th, free shipping to US and Canada. Just convo her your desired item and she will delete the shipping charges prior to purchase.

Brown to Red

So I haven't done anything with my hair in forever! And usually when that happens, I get bored and get really brave!
Willie has been pushing for me to dye my hair red for so long.
So after a cut, a color...a ditching of the glasses....

Before:

After:

I chose a deep red with chocolate brown low lights.
I gotta say, when I first saw the red before she dried my hair....I almost cried. All I could think was "What have I done?". But once she started drying it, it really grew on me and now....LOVE it!
Now, it's diet time. My face is getting pudgy! Geez!

Postage Stamp

So I've been working on a postage stamp quilt off and on...for lord knows how long. It's been a slow process. Mainly because I refuse to use too many of my own fabrics. I'm trying to only make this out of squares I've acquired through swaps. I just think it would make the quilt that much more interesting if it were made from fabrics from different people I've met throughout my bloggy/forum wanderings. Plus, I know that I tend to lean towards specific colors and designs.

There's really no rhyme or reason to how I'm putting the squares together. I'm just grabbing squares (without looking) so it will be totally random. Fun stuff!
Why am I randomly posting this? Because I realized after commenting on another forum post I haven't put up any pictures of what I have done so far! What??
This is definitely going to be a loooong labor of love. But so worth it when it's done. :)

Blog Carnival....Spring-y

A new month means a new Etsyblogger Blog Carnival topic:
Spring is here (or almost here depending on where you live). What spring-y things have you been noticing lately?

The biggest thing for me....squirrels. I live in the city so I appreciate any sort of non-city thing I can find. And one thing I love is that there are lots of squirrels living in the trees near my apartment building. There's a particularly large tree right outside of our living room window...and right now there are LOTS of squirrels constantly running and playing on the branches. They've shown themselves here and there during the winter, but now that the weather is starting to perk up a smidge, they're out in full force! And really enjoying themselves! It's driving Eleanor bonkers too. She has the perfect view of them when she's on the couch with me and all she wants to do is chase them. Now I'm just impatient for the weather to get warmer!

Etsyblogger - Design By Nora

This month's featured etsyblogger is Design By Nora.

I know this is kind of a weird thing to point out first, but I really love her shop banner! It's so sweet and simple.

But on to the more important stuff....the goodies!
She creates these lovely earrings out of polymer clay. They're so cute! And I love the different colors they come in.
She also sells purses made by her uncle, which are seriously impressive. So many lovely purses in a range of colors and styles.

Be sure to also check out her blog as well!

Citrusy!

How long has it been since I've done a REAL update? Too long I'm sure. We took a bit of a break from the city last weekend and went upstate to visit friends. It was really nice. They have a daughter who is seriously the cutest thing. It was a big change from the last time we saw here, when she was very shy and didn't really want anything to do with us. She just LOVED playing with us. And she was very talkative! :)
I really didn't get any work done over the weekend, but that's ok. We got to hang out, relax and play.

But last night I was able to finally finish another set of fabric bowls. These are light orange with a bit of embroidery added into it to give some texture. I want to play a bit more with texture in my future bowls. Although I've got a vision of a cherry blossom bowl I have to do first.
I also am almost finished with another pendant. I think I've figured out how I want to add the jumpring to it so it can hang off of a chain. I'd also had an idea to maybe make the chain out of embroidery floss but that didn't work too well. I used a knitting nancy and it was just WAY too thick. So, I guess I'll just leave it up to the buyer to add the chain.
Be on the lookout for a giveaway here in the next week....my very first!!

Coming up

Just a quickie update before I dash off to work, there will be 2 more fabric brooches listed this week. I'm also hoping to get a set of two small fabric bowls done as well. But, we have to go and do our taxes tonight.....ugh....so, that'll put a kink in my crafting time. Oh, and of course, LOST is on tonight as well. That trumps all! Have a marvelous day folks!

Angel Kisses Jewelry

Angel Kisses Jewelry (cute name!) is the new shop of the week for the etsy twitter group. This is a mother/daughter/daughter group of jewelers which I think is so sweet! I really love the different stones they use in their jewelry.

If I could pull off pearls, I would totally wear these:

Also, added feel good bonus, 10% of all proceeds from sales March 2nd - March 8th will go to support HIV Positive women in Addis Kidan, Ethiopia through the Good Samaritan Organization.

So be sure to check out her shop!
