Curiouser and curiouser

So I was thinking about doing a random keyword search on flickr and posting some of my favorite finds on days when I didn't have a whole lot to post about. I had decided on doing an alice in wonderland search and kinda got sidetracked when I found this:

I just absolutely fell in love! How cute is that! She also has an etsy shop where she sells these cute little polymer clay figures, RedFenyx (I love the name).
Speaking of etsy, I've also decided that every month I will make one purchase from etsy to support my fellow crafters. As soon as I receive this months purchase I'll show it off. I wish I could do that more often but buying handmade can be kind of expensive (rightfully so though!)

Bad bad swapper

I finally finished my polymer clay inchies! I was supposed to have sent these out a week ago for a swap on swap-bot but time just got away from me!
I really wanted to use the faux ceramic technique but I think I would like to practice a bit more with it before I subject an innocent swapper to my results.
So I just painted some images on them. I think they turned out swell!
I also joined a blog where we will be going through the book The Artists' Way together. I'm really looking forward to this because I've been wanting to get this book and try it out for awhile now. So hopefully doing it and discussing with a group of people will be good motivation. So if you're interested you should definitely join us! The official start date is Feb. 14th so you still have plenty of time!

Super excited!

Well, I wish I could say I've been busy crafting all sorts of stuff and that's why I haven't posted in awhile. Buuuut, that would be a lie. I did find this awesome tutorial on making faux ceramic tiles with polymer clay. So here's my first try. Not exactly how I imagined it would turn out but I'm still happy with it. And the technique has alot of potential! Pendants, buttons, tiles.

I also have been kicking another idea around in my head for awhile and I'm super excited to get started on it. I had to order a few supplies for it first. So as soon as they arrive I'll get started on that and hopefully have some successful pictures to post. Lately I've had bad luck with results of things and how I imagined them. Not even close! But here's a hint as to what I'll be working on.

That's all you get. I really want to get the supplies in though so I can get started! Like I said, I've had this idea for awhile but couldn't quite get all of the details quite ironed out. Then one night when I was laying in bed, it all just kinda came together. So yeah, here I am...anxiously waiting for that package. Hurry up!

Bento!

Now that my bento swap is over, it's picture time! I got so excited to send off my package that I forgot to take pictures. But my swap partner took some great ones so I'll use those.

I took a journal and painted it to match one of the colors in her bento box. I painted this neat typeface on there that I found online. I can't remember where I found it.

Then I made her a cozy to go around a small mug I bought for her to put soup in.

And then I found out that she was studying genetics so I took some napkins. One I embroidered a double helix on two of the borders for a placemat. Then the other two I hand dyed blue and embroidered a couple of little clouds on the corners.

And for me she made me a bag to put my bento in.

Some really cute polymer clay covered silver ware.

I love bento!

Good Times

I hope everyone had a wonderful christmas and a happy new year!
I had a great christmas! We spent it in Wyoming with Willie's family. And of course, it went way too fast! Ate too much fudge. It was so good though!
And we had a white christmas! Yay!!

We spent New Years Eve at home with some friends just playing video games. That's somehow become our tradition. We've done it for the past few years. It's fun! So much better than going out and drinking. My personal favorite...Rock Band! I'm getting to be quite the good drummer.

So very addictive.
On the crafting front, I have a swap due to mail out on monday on craftster so as soon as I get that done, I'll post pics of all of those goodies.
