.................

so here we are in japan. wow. what a culture shock. it's so crowded! that's coming from a nyc gal too! and so busy! i just don't know where to start. i'm hoping to post every day but we'll see. i already missed the first day and a half. the flight wasn't that bad...for 14 hours. i slept for most of it. we got here about 5:30 pm. so we just explored a bit around our hotel. we're in shinjuku. had some noodles. tested my skillz with the chopsticks. i did pretty well actually! yay me!

on our first full day we went to ueno and akihabara. ueno had a nice big park with some temples and shrines. unfortunately we came right at the end of cherry blossom season so most of the blossoms were gone. but we found a few trees that still had blossoms. the shrines/temples were beautiful. akihabara is nerd heaven! i got me a few little trinkets from my favorites games and anime. tachikoma!!
by the way, the train system is just amazing here! it is so efficient! trains come so frequently and on time! shame shame nyc subway.

this doesn't even begin to show you what we saw. go to willie's flickr page and you can see so much more! i'm just gonna highlight!
today we went to harajuku. that did not disappoint in any way! the fashion...amazing! the shopping...holy cow. for souvenirs too! we've pretty much got everyone taken care of! and i got to buy some shoes and shirts. the fashion here in japan is just absolutely amazing! they're really into layers. and boots with knee highs. that's just normal stuff. not getting into the gothic lolita look or the maids. i LOVE japanese fashion!!! i'm picking up more magazines just for that!
but before all of the shopping we went to another shrine. this one was FILLED with tourists! alot more than the last ones we went to. forgive me for not remembering the names of the shrines at the moment. it's late. we even witnessed a wedding procession....we think.

i swear i could just sit here and people watch for hours.
this place is incredible!
tomorrow we're going to try to find the cook's equivalent to akihabara. i still need my bento fix. i found a few small things but what i'm really wanting are egg molds and dividers and cups and all that fun stuff. i picked up some cutesy sauce containers though. but i want more!!
oh, i did hit kinokuniya...there's one right near our hotel. but it's impossible to find anything. so no luck yet in locating the craft section. i got a couple magazines. i'll try again though. i'm off to bed now.
